The entertainment sector is called upon to face complex challenges: technological change, new models of consumption, the economic sustainability of productions, and the protection of rights in an increasingly global context. Culture is not merely a productive sector: it is a common good, a driver of civic growth and a strategic asset for the future of Italy.
The SIAE 2025 Report is not merely a statistical snapshot of the performing arts, nor simply a tool for those who organise and manage cultural policy in Italy; above all, it is the living account of a country that continues to recognise itself in culture, creativity and collective participation.
Live performance, in all its forms, is one of the privileged spaces in which identity is built, social cohesion is nurtured and economic value is generated. It is a widespread cultural stronghold, capable of holding together major cities and local areas, institutions and private initiative, tradition and innovation. The data confirm the substantial solidity of the sector, but what matters most is its capacity to interpret the present time and to accompany the transformations of Italian society.
In this context, the role of SIAE remains central and grows stronger: protecting copyright means defending creative work, but also sustaining a cultural infrastructure that is essential to the country as a whole. It is a responsibility that translates into a daily commitment alongside authors, publishers and all the operators of the supply chain.
In this sense, I wish to recall, with particular institutional significance, the recent meeting at the Quirinale, where the highest representatives of SIAE, together with eminent figures from the world of authorship and publishing, were received by the President of the Republic. It was a moment of great symbolic value, which recognised the contribution of Italian creativity as a founding element of our national identity.
In the same way, the presence of SIAE at the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Republic, this past 2 June, is part of a tradition that underlines the deep bond between Culture and the Italian State. The national holiday is not only memory, but also an affirmation of what we are today: a community that finds in artistic expression one of its highest forms of freedom.
Looking to the future, we are aware that the entertainment sector is called upon to face complex challenges: technological change, new models of consumption, the economic sustainability of productions, and the protection of rights in an increasingly global context.
Culture is not merely a productive sector: it is a common good, a driver of civic growth and a strategic asset for the future of Italy.
The SIAE 2025 Report therefore delivers a clear message: live performance is alive, dynamic, capable of evolving. It is our task to accompany it, support it and enhance it, so that it continues to be one of the most authentic expressions of the vitality of our country.
